Rotten Meal at S.R. Thai (Ire)
I am at a loss on how to explain it. Is it just my misfortune to be with people who find that there’s something wrong with their meal from S.R. Thai? First it was the Wire Staple in the SR Thai Spring Roll (Ire), and now it’s a funny tasting crab meatball.
At this point, you might be wondering what am I doing eating S.R. Thai food in the first place. After all that I’ve experienced, wouldn’t it be better to avoid it? And you would be absolutely right.
In this case, however, I wasn’t the one who chose the restaurant but the person in charge of providing food for our rehearsals on 28 January 2006. I didn’t want to influence her decision so I kept quiet about my previous encounters.
Besides, she was ordering from the branch near UST (is that the Sampaloc Branch?), not the Katipunan branch where my friend and I ate before, so I was optimistically thinking that nothing untoward would happen. How wrong I was.
When my stage manager, Noodles Chua, muttered how her order of crab meatballs tasted strangely sour, the warning bells rang, and when I tasted it myself, it was definitely rotten already.
Of course, it was reported. But, as my stage manager said, once she knew about the wire staple and the Measly Meal at S.R. Thai (Ire), and considering how I don’t eat there regularly, the ratio of S.R. Thai seems particularly too high with regards to mishaps with their food.
As a precautionary measure, I think, as the director, I will insist in the future that food for our rehearsals should not come from S.R. Thai. I don’t want anything happening to my actors.
