Letters from Johanna Lindsey & Jean Auel & Iris Johansen
The email that my friend’s daughter received from Diana Zubiri reminded me of my own carefully written letters that were sent with bated hopes that they will be read, and eventually responded to. But my chosen recipients were authors, not actors, and months later, I was ecstatic when my fragile hopes were realized when they all responded.
Johanna Lindsey’s Letter- Probably the most well-known among the three, having a very well established niche in the romance genre, Ms. Lindsey shared her plans for future books. |
Jean Auel’s Letter- The author of the Earth’s children series (i.e. The Clan of the Cave Bear, etc,), Ms. Auel acknowledged her receipt of my Christmas card and wrote, “I’m pleased that you have enjoyed my books. Thank you for writing.” |
Iris Johansen’s Letter- An author who has combined the romance, fantasy and thriller genres, she wrote, “Thank you for taking the trouble to write and I truly appreciate your support and the fact that you enjoy my books. I loved hearing those words of praise on stories and characters that mean so much to me.” |
Letters to authors can be sent through their publishers, whose addresses are usually at the back of the book’s title page. Actors are a bit trickier, but I would imagine that finding out the address of their agent would be the best option. An envelope with your name and address, plus stamps of the country where the letter is coming from would also increase the chances of a response. Good luck!
