Still Charged for Unsubscribed SMS Info (Ire)

My friend, who already reported how her credit balance was being debited by Unsubscribed SMS Info, was given a Php 300 prepaid card and an assurance that her case has already been reported, and presumably, taken cared of.

However, to her dismay, she found that the SMS info was still being sent to her mobile, causing emotional stress and anger early in the morning whenever her phone would go off at 9am, the regular time it would be sent by ABS-CBN.

Ms. Maritoni Pablo, the supervisor of the Globe outlet at Gateway, explained that when the promo is from ABS-CBN, the usual process for them would be to report any complaint through an email, and, unfortunately, they can’t talk directly to the person in charge because protocol must be followed.

In the case of my friend whose case has already been reported, an email can be sent again, but my friend found that unacceptable since it didn’t work the first time, so the next option would be to totally change her SIM through a replacement.

My friend accepted the offer grudgingly, knowing that retaining her present number would just be debited repeatedly.

I requested that they also transfer the contact info from the old SIM to the new SIM to lessen the inconvenience of having to do so, and Ms. Pablo offered an additional Php 300 prepaid card to cover the added expense of informing people about her new mobile number.

Ms. Pablo also advised that for any promotional offer that has been opted to be received or taken, such as ringbacks, votes, etc., it would be wise to send the OFF SMS or the SMS prescribed to terminate the service once it has been received, in order to ensure that the system will not continuously send promos to your mobile number. Or, if you want to be completely safe from such an experience, do not subscribe at all to any promo.
