Tanghalang Pilipino announces open auditions for four
male roles to play in a Filipino production of
“Waiting for Godot” to be directed by visiting French
director Alain Timar. Auditons will be held on
January 23 and 24, 2006 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The
rehearsal will run for six weeks prior to performances
from June 23 – 25. Interested parties may call
Tanghalang Pilipino at 832-3661 or 832-1125 locals
1620/1621 to register and to find out the audition
venue. Applicants should be available for call back
auditions from January 25 – 27.
The director is interested in screening male actors
20-35 years old. They will be required to present a
monologue or a scene for two of their choice from
“Waiting for Godot” (approximately 5 minutes); and
another scene from any play of their choice. One
piece should be in English and the other in Filipino.

January 11. All interested actors must bring a resume
and 2 “2 x2” colored picture.
Director Alain Timar is a respected “non-traditional”
theatre director, teacher, scenographer and plastic
artist in France. As a director, he is as interested
with the process of creation as much as the production
itself. Thus, he looks forward to working with actors
who are open to interactive experimentation during
rehearsals.
Timar’s works have been presented in diverse
circumstances in a number of countries which includes
France, Germany, Belgium, Congo - Brazzaville, Ivory
Coast, Spain, Guadeloupe, Hungary, Italy, Israel,
Martinique, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, and U.S.A.
After academic literary studies in France, he joined
various theatre companies until he decided to settle
in Avignon, where he founded the Théâtre des Halles of
which he has been the Artistic Director since 1983.
Each year, Theatre des Halles participates in the
Theatre Festival in Avignon, which is one of the most
prestigious in the world. Alain Timar has been
nominated “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des
Lettres” in January 2003.
This production is jointly sponsored by the National
Commission for Culture and the Arts, the French
Embassy in Manila, the Cultural Center of the
Philippines and Tanghalang Pilipino.
