Kalachuchi Flower Salad Recipe

Counter Clockwise from Top: Fried Peanuts, Tomato, Garlic & Onion Prepare the Other Ingredients- Meanwhile, you can prepare the other ingredients: pound the peanuts, cut up the tomatoes, garlic and onion into small pieces for faster cooking.

Translucent Kalachuchi Petals Check the Kalachuchi Petals- Stir the kalachuchi petals in the open pot. When the kalachuchi petals turn translucent, then it’s time to stop the cooking process by putting the kalachuchi petals under cold running water (just like pasta).

Squeeze the Water from the Kalachuchi Petals Squeeze the Water from the Kalachuchi Petals- Using your hands, squeeze the water out from the kalachuchi petals.

Chop the Kalachuchi Petals Chop the Kalachuchi Petals- Roughly chop the kalachuchi petals into smaller pieces. Set aside.

    And, yes, I definitely tasted the kalachuchi flower salad since I was the one who requested the cook to whip it together for me.

    Unbelievably, if I didn’t know any better, I would have thought I was eating a pasta dish with an Asian sauce. The kalachuchi flower petals gained the consistency of pasta once cooked.

    This is most interesting. I didn’t know that the flower that I am always seeing can be eaten. And that when cooked, it is similar to pasta. I was thinking how sayang, the petals of the flowers on the ground. Maybe I should gather them next time and try cooking it. :)
