Nike Women Tribes Contest Schedule at Fitness First
I swear, trying to get the schedule for this event was like drawing blood from stone. With the exception of the Alabang branch, specifically, Mr. Perseus Sebrero, all the other Fitness First branches’ reception staff put me in varying lengths of holding time, which irked me considerably.
Finally, to my relief, I was able to catch Ms. Sheryl Javier, the GX Coordinator of the Fitness First Metro East branch, who clarified the schedule for me, which, in turn, I am going to share with you shortly. But, the most important thing to note is that the elimination rounds will already start at the Manila branch this Saturday 17 September 2005, 4.30 Step, 5.30 Jam and 6.30 Combat.
In summary, all Fitness First branches, except for the RCBC and Cebu branches, will be holding elimination rounds, and then, in groups of three branches or clusters, there will be the semifinals, before the finals itself. Therefore, if you’re planning to join the Nike Women’s Tribes Contest, be forewarned that this event is going to be time consuming, hence, be ready to commit time-wise.
What is the Nike Women’s Tribes Contest
A tribe is composed of 3 female members and one instructor, who can be either male or female, who will then lead the tribe. A tribe from a Fitness First branch has to choose one kind of class to compete in, namely, Body Jam or Body Combat or Freestyle Step. (For the complete set of rules, please ask for a copy from your branch’s reception staff, because there are variations in the rules wherein you can participate in the other branches as long as it’s a different discipline.)
Through a draw, the tribe will be assigned its track numbers, so that different tribes will be teaching different portions of the class, except for the warm-up and/or cool down.
During the contest, each tribe will be judged according to its Physical Execution (40%), Timing and Synchronization (25%), Overall Impact (25%) and Ability of the Class to Follow (10%). The winner from each round will move up until the finals on 08 October 2005.
Awards for Class Participants
Moreover, just like in any Les Mills launching, all Fitness First members are invited to attend the elimination rounds, the semifinals and the finals as class participants while the different tribes teach a whole class. Up for grabs for the class participants are awards for Best in Body Jam/Combat/Step, Best Dressed, Most Energetic, etc.
Below is the incomplete schedule that I was able to get at the moment. Please call to confirm because it is very likely that this schedule will still change. I’ll be editing this as soon as the information becomes available.
