Kuh Ledesma and Ebun at Greenbelt3
Dining under the stars while listening to Kuh Ledesma crooning with a 15-piece orchestra seemed like a great idea on a Sunday evening, so my friends and I hied off to Greenbelt 3. But we arrived to the sight of Greenbelt 3 park packed with an avid audience, despite the imminent danger of getting wet from the on and off drizzling rains.
We retreated to the comforting confines of Ebun, one of the restaurants surrounding the Greenbelt 3 park area. Upon perusing the menu, I was very pleasantly surprised to note that the prices were cheap, considering that the restaurant was located in a very prime area of Makati.
Having dined earlier at the buffet of Josephine Restaurant in Tagaytay, I was content to nibble on my P65 pan de sal with tuyo and quesong puti. Downing it with a tall glass of sago and gulaman that cost only P35 made the light meal even more satisfying.
My friend’s order of a P98 bangus turned out to be a plump number that may be shared by two or devoured by a hungry single diner.
Since one of my friends was a vegetarian, we had to grill the waiter regarding the ingredients that went into the dishes. Not only was Mr. Dan Sarreal of Ebun knowledgeable, but he was accommodating as well.
The sitaw and kalabasa dish was prepared without the usual shrimp, and the tofu sisig was offered to be served with the mayonnaise on the side. His understanding that mayonnaise may be considered by some vegetarians to be a no-no was quite impressive. He was so remarkable I simply had to commend him through a comment card.
The wonderful dining experience was accompanied by strains of Ms. Kuh Ledesma’s in top form voice singing ballads like “Broken Vow” to upbeat numbers like “I will Survive”—a unique gustatory and audio experience to be savored repeatedly in memory.
