Pancake House Fly & Lost Waitress (Ire)
While waiting to order at Pancake House Greenbelt last July 16, 2005, my friend and I noted that a fly was nestled right on top of a fork of a nearby table. Calling the attention of a passing waiter, we pointed out the situation to him. We were shocked when all he did was to wave the fly away without changing the utensil, and hurriedly walked away to another table to get that person’s order.
The thought of somebody using that fork and unknowingly consuming the fly’s germs was unbearable, so, I explained the situation to another server, and requested that all the utensils on that table and our table be replaced with new ones.
During the course of our meal, another server was going to give us coffee, when I asked whether it went with the breakfast meal. Realizing she made a mistake, she gave a small frown and walked away without a word of apology. She wandered listlessly for a while, obviously not yet focused on her work, before finally discovering the right customer who did order coffee.
We requested for the head supervisor, Ms. Pench Gongon, and recounted our experiences. Ms. Gongon promised that the staff would be reminded about hygiene and proper etiquette.

since most people now carry purses/handbags, i would suggest that they carry their own spoon and fork when eating out, as i’ve been doing. just make sure the utensil has a different design to differentiate it from the resto’s utensils. or better still why not bring the airline’s souvenir utensils?
