Fitness First Manila Hosts Last Les Mills Launch
July 31, 2005 marked the end of the scheduled Les Mills launches at all the Fitness First branches. Since I only caught the first one at the RCBC branch, I thought I’d better catch the last one at least.
True to form, it may be the last launch, but it was still jam-packed. I wanted to try the only mind and body studio in existence among the Fitness First branches, but, alas, I arrived too late to get a slot. I could only take a glimpse of the new choreography through the one-inch gaps in the mirror treatment of the studio’s doors.
But I was early enough for the last class—Body Jam. I was looking forward to the high adrenaline rush that launches seem to bring out of the participants. I just made sure to avoid the flailing body parts that may cause bodily harm, as what happened in the last Body Jam class I attended. The member in front of me accidentally hit one of my hands during one of his vigorous turns, and separated my nail from its fleshy bed. Needless to say, blood ran. Please forgive the gory story. I’m still annoyed by the fact that I didn’t get an apology.
Anyway, the class ended with all the members’ guests getting a free massage, and two of those very lucky guests got a free membership in addition to the free massage. The most energetic male and female Body Jammers also got prizes. The male category, in particular, got pretty interesting because the judges couldn’t decide between two members. A showdown ensued, with the remaining participants becoming the judges, who chose the winner by a clapping of hands.
Definitely, congratulations are in order for the whole Fitness First staff, from the reception staff to the teaching staff to upper management. It seems that each launch gets more organized and more exciting each time. I am particularly pleased with the fact that flyers were created to inform members of the launch schedule, a fact I was bemoaning to the staff during the last launch, and thankfully resolved this time around.
