KFC Funshots - By the Grams or Pieces? (Ire)

Opening the extra large box of KFC’s Funshots on July 22, 2005 and finding it half-full was upsetting. Quite certain there must have been a mistake, I returned it to the delivery person to be remedied.

The box did return later about ¾ full but I was informed that there was no mistake earlier. An extra large box was supposed to contain 18 pieces of chicken and the box earlier did have 18 pieces.

The situation was further aggravated by the fact that the delivery person didn’t give me the 40 centavos change KFC owed me.

I had to call the delivery person’s attention regarding the matter, but he discovered that he didn’t have the requisite change, and he offered me a P20 bill instead from his own pocket. He was going to give the whole P20 to me, but I felt that it was way too much and inappropriate for the situation. Good thing I had P19.60 in my wallet, which, of course, I gave to him.

I had to make two requests at KFC’s call center 887.8888 for the manager to call before he did. When he finally did, Mr. Ralph Edmun Umali then explained to me that funshots were originally weighed. For the regular size, it’s supposed to weigh 75g, the large 150g, and the extra large 225g.

To ensure the 54 pieces were enough for the orders, KFC changed the process to defining an order by the number of pieces, i.e., a regular sized box has 6 pieces, the large box has 12 pieces and the extra large box has 18 pieces. But as you can see from the picture, there is a great discrepancy in the size of the chicken pieces. The consumer is not assured of a consistent amount of product.

The matter is not settled of course. In the meantime, Mr. Umali and Froi, the delivery person, passed by my place to personally apologize. And Mr. Umali reassured me that the incident has been recorded and the packer and cashier have been reprimanded. And he gave me a gift of KFC products.

As a last note, giving a mobile number of the Person-in-Charge of all Delivery Concerns, namely, Ms. Eden Solivet with mobile no. 0920.9623783, is admirable, but the phone in question should be ascertained to be in proper working order, because I attempted to get through three times, but to no avail.
