Wire Staple in S.R. Thai Spring Roll (Ire)

Thai Spring Rolls On 06 December 2005 I decided to treat a friend to S.R. Thai’s delicious fare by taking out several dishes, one of which was the Thai Spring Rolls. However, just like in stories of urban legends, while chewing on her first spring roll, my friend felt something unexplainably hard and sharp inside her mouth.

Finally, she was able to determine that it was a wire staple that had been deep fried along with the contents of the spring roll. It was a really good thing that she felt it immediately and didn’t swallow it by mistake.

I was able to call S.R. Thai Katipunan a few days later and spoke to the supervisor —Ms. Lorna Capuccino, whom I requested to pass on my account to the owner and asked if said owner could call me within the day.

Ms. Clarissa Apostol did and apologized for the incident, saying that they will contact their supplier who provides them with their spring roll stuffing. On my prodding, she also offered a free meal and a call to my friend to apologize.

Of course, I cannot really determine at which point the wire staple was mistakenly added to the spring roll mix, but can only hope that the incident will make the employees, suppliers and restaurant owners more alert and careful with their products.
