What’s Up Last Week #15
December started with an account of my Disney sponsored storytelling stint with the post Storytelling at Disney Christmas Wonderland at Rustans Shangrila Mall.
I also posed my gift giving philosophy of giving only when I want to as another option through the article Be a Scrooge this Christmas. Hopefully, it might lessen your Christmas frazzle this year and in the future. But, if you are already shopping for bargains, watch out for those supposedly lower prices when buying more takes an opposite turn with Chuckles — Buy Less at a Lower Price.
And going to the bank was made even more of a chore with the BPI Lackadaisical Guard (Ire), a situation that hopefully improves with management prodding.
Oh, and just in case you didn’t know, I graduated from UP Diliman with a Business Administration and Accountancy degree, a fact, coupled with curiosity, that prompted me to attend the 7th Nationwide Search for the Outstanding Accounting Students of the Philippines at the Century Park Hotel with a friend who had decided to go into the academe. Interestingly, UP Diliman Defends its Accounting Title for the seventh year in a row in the group category.
And, after watching the first Disney solo CGI movie, Chicken Little, I couldn’t help wondering about the details surrounding the Disney Pixar separation—a partnership that has produced A Toy Story 1 and 2, A Bug’s Life, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, in the past. I found out that it’s not yet totally concluded. In fact, the Disney Pixar Agreement Crashes with ‘Cars’ Release, the last feature film to be released under their combined banner.
With the worldwide King Kong opening this Wednesday, 14 December 2005, there has been publicity galore about the movie, and with it, the image of The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, who also happened to helm the remake of the classic film. But it’s a very physically different Peter Jackson, who was almost unrecognizable with his considerable weight loss. Only hearing his voice helped me identify the beloved Kiwi. I did a little research on the Internet and found out How The Lord of the Rings Director Lost Weight.
My favorite magazine, Marie Claire, finally has a Philippine edition, and I examined the contents of the Marie Claire Philippines Maiden Issue, an activity that had me wishing that it would soon graduate to a lighter form of reading fare. Currently, with its positioning strategy, it’s a bit of a serious read.
A quirky look into the factual bits one acquires from riding the rail transit system was compiled into another set entitled 25 More Things I’ve Learned Riding the LRT & MRT . And, the careless use of Globe’s TXT NONSTOP service resulted in Chuckles — Globe to Smart Unlimited SMS.
