How The Lord of the Rings Director Lost Weight

The publicity team is gearing up for the release of King Kong in Southeast Asia on 14 December 2005, and the most intriguing vision is not of the giant ape nor its love interest, even though it’s the lovely Naomi Watts, but that of an obviously thinner Peter Jackson, the director of the famed The Lord of the Rings trilogy and the soon to be released King Kong; and, though he looks fantastic, and I’m sure he’s feeling great as well, how did it happen and why?

His fans have noticed as well, and, one, being a Wellington, New Zealand resident, where Peter is based, even attests that the weight loss is real, for she saw Peter Jackson in the flesh, so to speak.

If you want to see the Lord of the Rings director working on his next opus, King Kong, and be amazed by his leaner frame that used to be more hobbit-like, you may want to catch his interviews on TV, or check out the Peter Jackson video diaries in the Kong Is King site.

Alan Cooper investigated Peter’s methods for his 70 pound or 32 kg weight loss, and found that the award winning director has been following the Skull Island Diet, cheekily named after the island King Kong reputedly resides in, and which consists of eating muesli and yogurt instead of hamburgers, and subjecting himself to 21 hour days working on King Kong.

This simply translates to the fact that Peter was eating less calorie laden foods yet still working long hours, which equals to the disappearance of several fat stores, a result that most fitness professionals can probably predict, and, minus the grueling working hours, will most probably even recommend, coupled with a regular workout.

As for his reasons, Peter Jackson simply said, “I just got tired of being overweight and unfit, so I changed my diet…”
