Chuckles — Shopping Mis-Signs
I was disconcerted when I observed a couple of signs in a shopping mall. One was on a the door of a dressing room that read:
To our dear costumer:
Please kindly leave your things in the counter while you are fitting. Bagged are not allowed inside. Thank you.
By Management
Although both are English words and can refer to clothes, the word costumer usually means a person in the acting world who helps the actor change into his costumes, while bagged usually means one’s purchases are put into a shopping bag after paying for them, not while fitting the clothes.
And, in another shop, although the sign proclaimed it was a Japanese home improvement center of sorts, implying everything came from Japan, one item I picked up disclosed that it was, “Made in China.”
