Chuckles — I am Not a Dora
It seems that gender identification is very important to children even at a very young age. As my friend watched her pre-school son play, she couldn’t help exclaiming, “You’re so adorable!”
Instead of being pleased, he responded indignantly, “I’m not a Dora! I’m a boy!”
He thought his mom was saying that he was like Dora the Explorer from the Nickelodeon channel, who, may be an adventurous young child—escaping snapping alligators, falling rocks from a mountain, or the wily antics of a fox—but, still a girl.
