Smart vs. Globe Unlimited Text Comparison
I conducted an experiment on 10 November 2005 by requesting for 1 day unlimited text from two network providers, namely, Smart and Globe. I wanted to compare the timeliness and efficiency of each so I applied for the service at the same time.
The experiment started with a balance inquiry SMS sent to both Smart and Globe so that I could ascertain during the experiment if my balance would be debited by the 1 day unlimited text rate of P15. Furthermore, to eliminate the factor of heavy network traffic, I requested for the service in the wee hours of the morning at 4:14am.
Date: 10 November 2005
Time / Activity
4:14am Sent SMS Request for unlimited text to both Smart and Globe.
Globe SMS failed. I sent it for the 2nd time, which was successful.
4:14am Received 1st SMS from Smart stating, “Welcome to Smart 258 Text 15. For 1 day you can enjoy sending unlimited text msgs.:o
4:14am Received 2nd SMS from Smart stating, “Service will be available after 30 minutes. Please maintain P1 balance while enrolled in the service.â€
4:32am Sent balance inquiry SMS to Smart. Balance has been debited.
Sent balance inquiry SMS to Globe. Balance remains unchanged.
4:58am Sent 3rd and 4th SMS Request for unlimited text to Globe. Both fail with a note, “Message not sent this time.â€
5:39am Sent balance inquiry SMS to Smart. Received a SMS stating, “Your SMART 258 TEXT will expire 11 November 2005 04:14:14. (Note: There was no SMS formally stating the service activation, plus there’s a discrepancy regarding the start of the service. An earlier SMS stated it would commence after 30 minutes, i.e., 04:44am.)
6:53am Received 1st SMS from Globe stating, “ Thank you very much. We have received your request and it’s currently being processed. Kindly wait for the confirmation within 24 hours. (Note that this was received more than 2 ½ hours after the request was sent.)
6:59am Received 2nd SMS from Globe stating, “Your Globe TEXT NONSTOP promo is now active. Enjoy unlimited Globe to Globe TEXT for 1 day! Your FREE text will only be applied to other networks while subscribed to the promo. For prepaid, please maintain at least P1 to use the unlimited text promo. Promo ends Nov. 26! Per DTI # 5767 Series of 2005. (Note: The customary second SMS was NOT received.)
Date: 11 November 2005
6:33am Sent balance inquiry SMS to Smart. Although it stated the peso balance and number of free text messages, there was no mention of the unlimited text service termination.
11:23am Received 3rd SMS from Globe stating, “Your Globe NONSTOP SMS service is now inactive. (Although stamped with the time 07:55, the SMS actually arrived several hours later. But note that it should have been deactivated at 6:59am, so there’s almost an extra hour of txt nonstop service.)
Conclusions
· Smart’s program for service activation is more efficient than Globe.
· Globe’s series of SMS states more clearly the status of the unlimited text service.
· Both Globe and Smart are imprecise with the start and end of the service.
And, may I exhort everybody again to Support Sun to Lower Globe and Smart Rates, for these two giants would never have offered the unlimited text service if Sun had not entered the market arena with their Sun to Sun unlimited text.

subscriber aq ng both network, globe and smart. pero ang smart, sobrang bulok ang sistema… they always claiming, they are the No.1 mobile network provider, goodness! hindi nga masagot ng customer service nila ang mga conerns ko, di nila ko natulungan about dun sa problema ko sa network nila, yung mga e-load nila s—ks!!! kinain kaagad ng smart, kainis, tapos nare-imburst nga, 30php. yung bumalik… pa load ako ng 50php. bumalik 30php.
kaya, GLOBE parin talaga ang best mobile network provider para sa kin. kaya kayo mga smart subscriber, pag isipan ñong mabuti kung saan talaga kayo makakamura ng halaga sa pag-papaload.

makikicomment n rin me. ang masasabi q lng jan s isyu n yan ay…. parereho may dipirensya ang lahat ng network kac hindi namn pang hambambuhay ang mga gingamit nilang appratus. kelangan ding imaintainnace ang mga yan. at sa dami rin ng subcriber kaya kelangan nilang mag upgrade ng system weekly kaya lagi sira ang network kaya limited lng minsan ang nakakpasok sa mga promos nila. at ang malala jan business is business. kaya may greed din jan. para kumita at hindi bumagsak ang negosyo

you’re absolutely wrong. sun is really faulty up to this point.
and by the way, filipinos should never complain about the service charge for mobile communications because the lowest rates are available in the philippines. plus, local telcos offer lots of promos, unlimited and stuff. you should realize how hard it is to become a network engineer, how costly it is to maintain a fully-operational telco system before you think of the worth of what you’ve been paying for.

makiki-react lang po. previously, i’m a globe subscriber, it’s not that I don’t like their services, their unli is really cheap & makes it more convenient & money-saving for a student like me.
I switched to Talk N Text(handled by smart) because all of my friends are smart users. they offer Unlimited texting promo, but it’s a bit more expensive than globe. it costs P25. since smart don’t have the “papiso-pisong dagdag” for load. you’ll be forced to avail the economy load of P30. while you can load P21 for globe to avail the unli which costs P20.
to register for smart’s unli texting, you have to text this format:
UNLI25 then send to 258.
i’ve tried it & it works.

Ano kya tlga ang mgndang line ng sim feeling ko sira tlga service ng parehong line dati globe ako pangit service nwa2la load ko pg nag reg, tpos pinalitan ko ng smart ang dming dpat gawin tpos service cannot be process puro sakit sa ulo…

wlang UNLI sa smart ngaun..d nman totoo..ilang ulit na ako ngpa rgster ng unli nila..halos 5 hrs na try..wlang nangyari..hanggang ngayon tna try ko parin pero WALANG UNLI..dpat ireklamu sila..nagpa advertise pa! d mn lng nahiya!

I really don’t know why i can’t avail any of the unlimited text promo.. Pinalitan ko yung old smart sim ko dahil akala ko sira na yun.. I have my new smart sim now.. but still can’t avail the said promo.. I texted 258 ng “UNLI20 or Unli20 the 258 will reply “sori di maprocess ang yung request,try UNLI25. so i tried UNLI25,258 will reply “sori di maprocess ang yung request try ALLTEXT25, and itried it, it was succesful.. i feel like i was being forced to use that promo.. the same problem with my old smart sim.. please.. LET ME AVAIL THE UNLIMITED TEXT PROMO.

pag bumagsak ang globe or smart at magsara.. magsasara nrn yang sun kc dnla kakayanin ang subs n gnung karami.. imagine un subscriber ni smart n 29.5M at sasaluhin ni Sun lng.. bk mwlan k ng buhay nyan.. there’s no perfect product in this world.. so stay contented on what u have ryt now..

u r absolutely right… sun has been a great help for me.. and will support it as much as possible.. Globe has stolen from me me many times.. and is really not efficient.. i approve of this site and ur comment about the sun network..
