Cheap Eats — Coffee & Vanity

A sudden invitation from a friend led to the discovery of this hidden cafe with the unique blend of massages, hair and make-up styling and vegetarian food.

Cheese, Fruits and Nuts Cheese, Fruits and Nuts- The combination of Camembert or Brie cheese, grapes, walnuts and bread at P100 is my personal fave.

Lasagna Verdi Lasagna Verdi- With spinach, mushrooms and 3 kinds of cheeses, this lasagna is a treat at P100.

Peach Mango Sago Peach Mango Sago- This delectable dessert with layers of mango custard and tapioca balls while topped off with a peach slice costs only P50.

x Tea- Choose from flavors such as jasmine, chamomile, exotic fruit, or peach apricot, and order a pot of tea for P50.

To get to Coffee & Vanity, go to Quezon Circle, turn right into Visayas Avenue, watch out for McDonald’s on your left, and then turn left into that street. The first street on your right is called Road 3. Just go straight and you’ll see the brightly lit cafe on your left. A barangay person moonlighting as a security guard will assist you with the parking. And just in case you get lost, the number there is 927.7539.

It’s owned by theatre thespian Stella Canete, whom you might recognize from her numerous TV commercials. Her roots are with Dulaang UP, and her contemporaries are all over film, TV and stage, and they do oftentimes drop by. Aside from the wonderful food and conversation with your friends, you might have the additional fun of trying to place whom from which TV show or film.

I would like to regretfully inform everyone that Coffee & Vanity owner Stella Canete decided to close the restaurant last April 2006.
