Slimmers World Great Bodies 2005

“My mother tried to help me out by buying a membership at Slimmers World for me. But I discovered that I liked torturing myself. Instead of going to exercise, I tried out other things.

“I injected myself with something that promised to rev up my metabolism. All I learned was that I was usually mistaken to be a diabetic because I became so good at injecting myself in my thighs.

“I had my amphetamine period, which Judy Garland also used, but I became too hyper—my heart felt it was going to burst out of my chest. Oh, and did I mention that amphetamines were also addictive?

“And did you know that you could also try to squeeze the fat out of you? Aside from the squeezing, there was also spanking in between the massage, plus there was beating. Well, when people saw how black and blue I was, they didn’t believe me when I said I had a massage. But they did believe me when I said I had an abusive boyfriend. Go figure.

“I also tried the classic belt shaker, and did that with another classic—the electric shock treatment. Needless to say, I had to stop it because of the spasms.

“When the Jane Fonda workouts became popular (remember the side bends and twists?), I became more interested in group exercise. I lost weight and I was even able to run and do exercise marathons.
