Chatter & Chunter — Eastwood City Experiences (Part2)

Eastwood City Walk 2The banners announcing the 14-16 October 2005 Bookfair caught my eye because I was asked to participate in it. Checking the details, it just said that the venue was Eastwood City Walk 2, which I wanted to ascertain where exactly.

So I went to a nearby booth that was proclaiming Eastwood Rewards, and asking the two ladies at the booth if they were indeed employees of Eastwood City, to which they said yes, I asked if they knew where City Walk 2 was. They had no idea where. The only helpful thing they did manage to say was to suggest that I ask a guard.

Thankfully, the guard did know, and ironically, it was to say that the building where the Eastwood Rewards booth was was indeed City Walk II. Imagine that, the two ladies were ignorant of the fact that they were situated in City Walk 2 itself.

I’m not sure, but am I being too demanding of mall employees to expect them to know the names of the buildings and shops as well as their locations? I think that should be part of their orientation and training. I swear, there’s nothing more irritating than to be told the excuse, “Bago pa lang ako (I’m new),” as if being new should be an excuse for ignorance. If you truly don’t know, at least provide an alternative solution, like the advice to ask a guard.

I also think that mall employees should be updated on the mall’s activities because they will be asked for sure, like the guard I asked knew the building’s name but had no clue about the bookfair.
