Nike and Fitness First Frustrations

Nike Boxing LogoI’m sorry, updating the Nike Women Tribes Contest 2005 Schedule at Fitness First is proving to be quite taxing and too time consuming. The reception staff is oftentimes clueless regarding the schedule, even the day before the event itself, for example, the ABS-CBN staff.

I was also planning to support the Nike Women Tribes Contest by posting the tribe names and winners at the branch and cluster levels, so that the excitement level can be built to a fever pitch for the grand finals. But this attempt is unbelievably being thwarted directly and indirectly.

The Fitness First Manila branch GX Coordinator replied to my SMS request for a list of the branch’s winners names for each category by saying that her opinion on the matter was that the branch’s elimination rounds winners should only be released after 8 October 2005 grand finals because the eliminations were still ongoing.

I was naturally aghast. But I contained myself and replied that I thought it was quite appropriate to release the winners’ names since it was public knowledge, although limited, but it was information that I would have been privy to if I had stayed till the awarding ceremony.

So here I am, going out of my way to help promote the event by disseminating information and increasing awareness, and, consequently, attendance, and I get the brush off.

In one last attempt to post the winners’ names, I also approached an instructor who was performing as the host in another branch’s Nike Tribe event to request that branch’s winners, but I’m still waiting for the promised email.

And my excitement at getting the updated details from Nike’s Sports Marketing Executive, Tony Atayde, regarding who to contact about any Nike Stadium and Forum complaint have been dashed.

Despite the combined efforts of unsuccessful calls to his direct line and Nike’s trunk line, as well as sent email and SMS, the information is non-forthcoming. And I’m wondering, how hard is it to call the Sales Department and ask, “Who is in charge of Nike Stadium and Forum?” Honestly, it’s the kind of task that a manager doesn’t even bother with, but pass on to an assistant. And I ask again, how hard could that be?

I appreciate even more the formerly of Nike manager, Mr. Rely San Agustin, who, true to his word, contacted me the day he said he would. It is truly Nike’s loss that he has moved on to greener pastures, specifically, the creation of a new sports marketing and events management outfit– Waffles Marketing Inc.

So, ladies and gentlemen, I have to apologize but I do not have the inclination to continue updating or posting any article in the future regarding this event. But, please, if you have knowledge of any winners’ names, please use the site by writing in the comment box their names for a well deserved recognition.
